A Branding Photoshoot with Studio Reforma: Showcasing the Passion Behind the Brand

July 6, 2026

Branding photography isn’t one-size-fits-all. For some businesses, beautifully crafted portraits that establish trust and professionalism are exactly what’s needed. For others, the story is best told through lifestyle imagery that captures people in action, interacting with clients and bringing their business to life. In a lot of occasions, strong personal branding galleries combine both approaches.

The branding photoshoot for Studio Reforma, a premium pilate studio in London Barnet, was very much a lifestyle branding session. While we created professional portraits of founder Julia, the real focus was on telling the story of the studio – the care she gives each client, the welcoming atmosphere she has created, the premium reformer equipment and the experience people enjoy every time they walk through the door.

Behind Every Successful Branding Photoshoot Is Careful Preparation

A big advantage of this project was that I was already familiar with the pilate studio prior to the photoshoot. Having experienced Julia’s classes first-hand, I have observed and understood the atmosphere she created in her classes. I knew how welcoming the studio felt, how calm the environment was and, most importantly, how much care she gave every individual client. That understanding shaped the entire photoshoot.

Much ahead of the branding photoshoot, Julia and I met several times at her North London pilate studio to discuss the brief in detail. Rather than simply creating attractive images for her website, we talked about the message we wanted her photographs to communicate. For me, key considerations include: How do you photograph expertise? How do you show passion? How do you demonstrate the level of personal attention clients receive? Those questions became the foundation of the shoot.

Together we walked around the studio, exploring the best use of the space and how we could make the most of its beautiful natural light. We also looked at small details within the studio, making subtle adjustments to ensure we have the best yet authentic canvas for the photoshoot.

We spent time discussing different reformer Pilates movements as well. Some exercises naturally communicate strength and elegance, while others better demonstrate balance, precision or the close interaction between instructor and client. Selecting the right movements wasn’t just about creating beautiful photographs. It was also about choosing poses that represented the essence of reformer Pilates while allowing Julia’s expertise and coaching style to shine through. We set the purposes and intentions before the cameras and photographic equipment were brought in.

Great Branding Photography Goes Beyond Showing What You Do

One of the biggest misconceptions about branding photography is that it’s simply about documenting a business.

In reality, it’s about communicating an experience. Clients choose Studio Reforma because they want to feel stronger, move better and learn from someone they trust. Genuine moments of interaction therefore became the focus of this branding photoshoot.

As Julia gently corrected posture, encouraged clients through a movement, celebrated progress and watched carefully from across the room, these moments were quietly captured and translated into beautiful imagery. These authentic interactions communicate far more about the Studio Reforma experience than any posed photograph ever could.

Capturing the Bright, Airy Feel of the Studio

Apart from its premium reformer Pilates machines, Studio Reforma has a fantastic setting that I was keen to capture in the photographs. Natural light pours through the large windows and glass roof, creating a wonderfully bright, calm environment. The mirrored walls, warm wooden reformers and generous open layout work together to create an inviting space dedicated to movement, wellbeing and self-care.

Apart from photographing close-up actions, I deliberately included wider compositions that allowed the space to breathe, helping potential clients imagine themselves in the studio before they even walk through the door.

One of the most striking features of the studio is its wall of mirrors. They’re invaluable during Pilates classes, allowing clients to monitor their alignment and technique, but for a photographer they present an entirely different challenge. Every angle has the potential to reveal the photographer, unwanted reflections or distracting elements.

Rather than avoiding them, I chose to embrace them. The reflections became an important storytelling tool, adding depth to the photographs and reinforcing the openness of the studio. In several images they allow the viewer to see both Julia and her clients from different perspectives simultaneously, creating a stronger sense of movement and interaction. Sometimes the most technically challenging environments produce the most rewarding photographs.

Showcasing One of Studio Reforma’s Biggest Strengths

Every branding session begins by identifying what makes a business different. For Studio Reforma, one of those distinguishing features is its investment in high-quality reformer Pilates equipment.

The reformers are more than exercise machines. They communicate quality, professionalism and attention to detail, reinforcing the premium experience clients can expect. That’s why I wanted to create images that showcased not only people using them, but also the equipment itself as an important part of the studio’s identity.

Photographs of the reformers arranged neatly within the bright studio help tell the story of a business that has invested in creating the very best environment for its clients. These subtle details all contribute to how people perceive the brand.

Photographing the Person Behind the Brand

While documenting the classes was essential, it was equally important to create portraits of Julia herself. People buy from people, and before choosing a Pilates studio many prospective clients want to know who will be teaching them.

Relaxed portraits within the familiar surroundings of the studio help create that personal connection. Combined with the action photographs throughout the gallery, they present a complete picture of both the business and the person behind it.

We also created team photographs to showcase that various talented instructors teach alongside Julia and support the students in the same high standard of care. Although every instructor brings their own personality and expertise to the studio, they all share the same commitment to providing thoughtful, personalised guidance and exceptional care for every client.

Why Authentic Branding Photography Builds Trust

Every business has a unique story. The challenge is communicating that story before a potential client ever makes contact.

For Studio Reforma, it wasn’t enough to show Pilates classes or the studio space. The photographs needed to communicate expertise, care, precision, warmth, passion and connection. Looking through the final gallery, I hope people don’t simply see a Pilates studio. I hope they can imagine what it feels like to be there, because that’s exactly what great branding photography should do.
