We’re not models and don’t know how to pose. Can we really do this?

Most mother-daughter photography sessions happen at my North London portrait studio for a classic, intimate look with professional lighting. We can also shoot outdoors or at home if you prefer a relaxed feel - we’ll plan your location together.

Absolutely. Most clients are everyday people. I provide full direction on posing, expressions and body language, with flattering lighting and styling so you feel confident and look your best. This is my specialty - elegant, magazine-style portraits in our North London studio.

What should we wear for a mother-daughter photoshoot?

Is hair and makeup included?

Choose coordinated outfits in complementary tones and textures. Timeless silhouettes, simple patterns and layers photograph beautifully. I’ll guide you in a styling call, and you’re welcome to borrow from my studio wardrobe (including maternity pieces).

Yes - professional hair and makeup for one adult is included to help you feel pampered and camera-ready. Additional makeovers for family members can be arranged. Teen makeup is age-appropriate. Please tell me about any sensitivities or allergies.

How long does a session take and how many outfit changes?

Do you retouch the images?

Allow a relaxed half day for hair and makeup, multiple outfit changes and a calm pace. For mother-daughter or multi-generation portraits, 2-3 outfits each works well. You can also bring extra looks for solo portraits.

Yes - I retouch naturally and responsibly. Blemishes can be softened while keeping skin texture and your unique features. The aim is a polished, flattering finish that still looks like you.

When and how do we see our photos?

You can actually review the photos right after the shoot, on the same day! Or if you prefer, we schedule a relaxed reveal appointment after your session to view a curated selection and choose artwork and digitals together.

How many photos will we receive?

You’ll view a carefully edited selection from which you can order prints, wall art and digital files. Digitals are included with purchased prints and available in collections.

Can we bring a pet?

If you’d like to include a well-behaved pet, let me know during planning so we can prepare the studio or choose an outdoor option.

Outdoor sessions — what if it rains?

We’ll set a weather back-up or move to the studio, so your session is never at risk.
