It is always an honour when our work is recognised and shared.
I was delighted to find out that a portrait photograph I have submitted to Monochrome Photography Awards 2021 was awarded Honourable Mention among work of internationally renounced fellow photographers.
Inspirations for the Image
The photo shoot took place in 2021 after months of Covid-induced nation-wide lock down. We lived in a period when the pandemic continously took over the news headlines. We were obsessed with late information and the whole nation eagerly awaited Prime Minister’s update on Covid situation week by week.
When Taylor expressed interest in wearing this ‘newspaper dress’ which sits in my studio wardrobe collection, I suggested to inject in some fun and editorial style into the shoot. I decided to double up the news effect with a real newspaper, and having Taylor lean onto a chair for the reading pose. To make the prints pop up I kept the background simple by using a black backdrop. It didn’t take much more for the story to jump into live!
